Irina Egorova
rina Yegorova uses pseudonym “Acicularis” in her work that means "needle" in Latin, because a needle is a main tool through which she creates tiny dolls made of wool, not larger than 8-10 cm. Her characters are insects (each one has a real prototype) endowed with human features. Irina creates a fantastic world in which small lively creatures sing and play music, play chess and take photos, philosophize and dream of love. Her characters are always recognizable - among them you can find Winston Churchill, Mona Lisa, Trinity from “The Matrix”. Using minimum number of means, strictly limiting herself in size, the artist recreates their postures, facial expressions, gestures and characters, and in our eyes they form independent and complete story, each time the new one.
